Dear NYC Interns,
I just wanted to
take a minute to welcome you all to the Internbar group, introduce this year's
terrific coordinator, and explain a little bit about what we do and why we do
it.
I started InternBar in 2007,
the summer before my senior year while I was in NYC interning at a music
management company. InternBar began as a way to explore the city and meet new people, but since then,
we've had over 3,000 interns come out to our events here in NY, which have been
held at venues all across the city. It has been a few incredible summers, but
this intern class is the best, most diverse one we've had yet, so we are all very
excited.
The point of
InternBar is to help answer the question "where should we go tonight?" NYC is
sometimes hard to figure out, with so many choices and all, so we created InternBar so everyone knows where everyone else is going to be. In addition, we work out drink specials and reduced cover fees
at these usually exclusive places to make sure that every single one of you gets in and
has a great time.
We pick our places
to show you a wide array of what New York has to offer; from dive bars, college
bars, trendy lounges, and--occasionally--the most exclusive
nightclubs and private celebrity-filled events
(keep an ear out for the NBA draft party coming up). We are here to help you
through all of this the whole time.
That being said, I
want to introduce to you Nan Ni, your InternBar coordinator for the summer.
You'll see her face out at most of the events, get messages from her
periodically. You can also read her twitter feed and check out her tumblr for pictures of yourself from the night before. She is interning at
Amex during the day and in her free time, makes these events happen for you. We are really excited to have her on the team.
Let me be clear that
we set this group up for YOU. Please let us know if you have any questions,
comments, suggestions, etc. We are glad to offer advice or help to set up your
birthday party or whatever.
You know how some people have that friend who has a
friend who knows a guy who can hook it up? Well we want to be that guy (the one
who can hook it up) to all of you. So please don't hesitate to reach out whenever.
Lastly, please make
sure to check the website for our weekly lineup; we will be having InternBar
events every Fridays and Saturday. We will send out a facebook blast every week as
well with the lineup, so make sure you join the 2009 group!
Welcome all to New
York. Have fun, live it up,
Best,
Zak
